We've been crushing on Toni Daley's style for quite some time now. Based in Toronto, Canada, Toni Daley is a natural hair enthusiast, jewelry designer and artist. Since 2007, she's been helping women love their natural hair and beauty.
What does the headwrap mean to you?
The headwrap means many things to me. It's a way of accentuating our beauty, of celebrating our history, of conveying modesty, and like most modern day women need to from time to time....disguising bad hair days!
Are there any turbanistas that you're inspired by and why?
Erykah Badu is a turbanista I'm inspired by because you can't help but want to put one on after seeing her in one. She always looks so regal, elegant and beautiful. I'm also inspired by Solange because she shows how to incorporate headwraps with quirky or not so traditional attire.
Where do you shop for your headwraps?
I mainly shop for headwraps online using various recommendations through social media. I also like to peruse Etsy from time to time and my local fabric stores and flea markets.
Can you provide wrapping tips for aspiring turbanistas?
I personally don't think it takes too much work to achieve a great headwrap look, so I like to keep my wrapping style simple. My advice for aspiring turbanistas is just go for it! Don't be afraid to try and duplicate a look that you may have seen, chances are it's a lot easier to achieve than it looked!
